Gear Junkie Email Redesign

Gear Junkie email Redesign

I noticed Gear Junkie had a similar email layout to Groupon, and needed a little updating. I designed interchangeable "story cards" to create different email newsletter layouts in order to increase freshness and readability. Enhanced images and different typography allows the newsletter to be a fun skimming experience to increase open clicks and conversion.

Desktop Rendering

Breaking up the layout with a variety of image sizes allows the user to stay engaged while skimming. Adding iconography and different background images allows for a newsletter reading experience, instead of typical email skimming. Content is kept brief and minimal to enable users to transition to the website. Similarly, the different call-to-action buttons increase conversion to different areas of the main website.

Mobile Rendering

The responsive design of the email transitions all two and three-up story cards to a single stack, with enlarged images and text for easier readability. Due to email's inconsistent rendering of CSS classes, responsive emails allow for similar experiences on both desktop and mobile. For 100% accuracy, all features should be displayed on both renderings. Simple and clean layout features in the original design enable a positive user experience on desktop and mobile.

The Process

I developed multiple "gear card" layouts to reduce monotony of redundant templates. Adding background colors, large call-to-actions, and iconography creates an engaging user experience and is acceptable across all email clients.
